COLUMBUS, 2017-Apr-05 — /Travel PR News/ — Columbus Regional Airport Authority’s President & CEO Elaine Roberts was honored with The Riveter Award at the Women for Economic and Leadership Development’s (WELD) 2017 keynote event on March 30.
The Riveter Award is an annual award of distinction given out by WELD to a woman who is not only in a position of power and influence and a leader in her field, but also a woman who invests the capital of her position to uplift and inspire others. Rosie the Riveter is a cultural icon representing a woman’s strength and ability to succeed.
“As a highly successful business leader, Elaine makes the personal choice to engage in practices and opportunities that uplift women, setting a strong example for all of us,” said Barb Smoot, President & CEO of WELD. “Our community is better because of her commitment to support women and this is WELD’s way of thanking her for all that she has done in this regard.”
Roberts became the first President & CEO of CRAA when it was created on January 1, 2003. Prior to that, she served as Executive Director of the Columbus Airport Authority, CRAA’s predecessor, beginning in December of 2000. In total, Roberts has nearly 35 years of airport management experience.
“I am humbled to receive this recognition from WELD, an organization dedicated to developing and advancing women’s leadership as a means to better the community,” said Roberts. “I would be proud beyond measure to know the work I have done professionally or as a volunteer has inspired other women to become active leaders in their career fields or their communities.”
Roberts is very involved in community initiatives, currently serving on the boards of the Columbus Partnership, Experience Columbus, State Auto Financial Corporation, Columbus Region Logistics Council and Otterbein Women’s Leadership Network Advisory Council. She is also a respected leader in the aviation industry, currently serving on the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) Policy Review Committee to the Board of Directors and Board member for International Association of Airport Executives. She’s also a former past chair of AAAE.
