Christchurch Airport to open new, purpose-built childcare facility ‘Little Jets’ in 2022

Great news for mums and dads, a brand new, purpose-built childcare facility is coming to the airport campus next year. Called ‘Little Jets’, the facility is the creation of experienced early childhood education (ECE) developer, Hamish Ireland.

Christchurch, New Zealand, 2021-Dec-01 — /Travel PR News/ — They say it takes a village to raise a child, and with a new ECE centre on campus, our airport ‘village’ will be more complete than ever! The new childcare centre will be located on Wairakei Road, making it ideal for airport campus staff who are balancing work and parenthood.

Little Jets is the brainchild of Hamish Ireland, an experienced ECE developer who saw the need for a childcare centre to service our campus community of 7,000.

Hamish has spent the last 25 years creating more than 50 ECE centres up and down New Zealand. A local Cantabrian, he says Little Jets will have a special place in his heart.

“I’m excited to be creating a high quality centre here in Christchurch Airport’s unique little town. I take a great deal of pride in every centre I build but this one will really be a flagship project for me.”

– Hamish Ireland

Little Jets will be a standalone, purpose-built centre, licenced to care for up to 75 children and operated by fully qualified staff. It will focus on providing high quality care and education in a secure, nurturing environment. For airport campus mums and dads, being able to have their little ones close by will mean extra peace of mind (and the possibility of extra cuddles at lunchtime!).

“Childcare needs have evolved over the last 10-20 years,” says Hamish. “With more parents working and fewer extended family members nearby, young families need secure, high quality facilities they can rely on. I’ve been in the sector for a long time, and with six children myself I can absolutely relate to parents wanting the best for their children.”

John Raso, Christchurch Airport Property Portfolio Manager, is looking forward to the new arrival.

“We are proud to be collaborating with Little Jets to create a well-designed childcare environment here on campus. The combination of indoor and outdoor spaces, modern technologies and sustainable materials will encourage play and learning, and inspire parents to enrol their children.”
