BWI Marshall Airport recorded 22,761,893 passengers in Fiscal Year 2015 an increase of 2.4 percent over the previous fiscal year

June Delivered Highest International Traffic in Airport’s History

BALTIMORE, MD, 2015-8-19 — /Travel PR News/ — Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport today announced that passenger traffic continues to climb with 22,761,893 passengers recorded in Fiscal Year 2015. That figure, an increase of 2.4 percent over the previous fiscal year, represents an all-time fiscal year record for passenger traffic at BWI Marshall.

“BWI is a gateway to the world and a powerful economic engine for Maryland and the region as a whole,” said Governor Larry Hogan. “Our administration is committed to ensuring Maryland continues to be a premier destination for business and tourism and sustaining this growth at BWI will play a key role in that effort.”

International passenger traffic for BWI Marshall rose 55.4 percent in June 2015 to 116,155—the highest international total for any one month in Airport history. International passengers have grown steadily in recent years at BWI Marshall. So far in 2015, airlines have started service to or announced seven new international destinations for BWI Marshall.

For June, a total of 2,181,039 passengers flew through BWI Marshall, an increase of 5.2 percent over June 2014. It was the second busiest June in the Airport’s history. June’s passenger traffic grew for a number of BWI Marshall airlines, including American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Southwest Airlines, Spirit Airlines, United Airlines, Air Canada and Condor.

“We remain committed to offering outstanding air service for residents, businesses, and visitors,” said Maryland Secretary of Transportation Pete K. Rahn. “We continue working to improve and expand BWI Marshall to accommodate further growth from our airline partners.”
