2012-07-21 — /travelprnews.com/ — This week sees the start of Liverpool John Lennon Airport’s (JLA) busiest time of the year as the region’s schools break up and thousands of holidaymakers jet off abroad every day for some Summer Sun and take advantage of the great choice of destinations available from their local airport.
This year in particular, the wettest June on record, followed by an even wetter July appears to be bringing an increase in enquiries and bookings for flights with airlines from Liverpool to the many Mediterranean sunshine destinations, just a short flight away.
easyJet has seen a boost in bookings during the lengthy rainy spell with the warmer sunshine resorts dominating the list of popular last minute destinations as passengers look to swap the wet North West with the likes of Nice, Malaga and Majorca
With school holidays about to start, the airport expects over 100,000 passengers to pass through each week.
Paul Staples, Airport Director at JLA commented, “The continued summer washout is clearly making passengers desperate to get away for some Summer sunshine and we expect the airport to be busy over the coming weeks despite the economic climate.
It appears that many passengers who hadn’t booked to go away are now choosing to take advantage of the convenience and great value for money of the many direct flights to the popular Mediterranean hot spots on sale from Liverpool, with an increase in later bookings.”
