Bristol Airport prepares for a busy summer

2012-07-25 — /travelprnews.com/ — Bristol Airport is gearing up for a busy start to the holiday season as families look forward to finding some sunshine following the recent wet weather. Summer is already proving very busy with passenger numbers up 6.9 per cent in June compared to the same period last year, and inbound visitors en route to Olympic events in Cardiff and Weymouth are expected to swell numbers further during July and August.

To help families get their holiday off to a great start, a range of child-friendly initiatives have been introduced, from an extra-wide security channel to allow additional space for baby buggies, to colouring packs which will be available at peak times in the departure lounge.

Children’s menus and an activity pack of puzzles and games for the younger flyer are available in Dexters restaurant. Parents can also pre-order baby food from Superdrug, ready for collection in the departure lounge.

Entertainment in the terminal will add to the holiday atmosphere, with activity including Olympic themed days and magicians on hand to entertain all passengers. Television coverage of the summer’s big sporting events will also be shown in the Airport’s bars.

Alison Roberts, Head of Customer Operations, Bristol Airport said:

“We will be working hard to provide a great start to passengers’ summer holidays, but check-in, security search and boarding can sometimes take a little time for families and large groups. Holidaymakers can help us take the stress out the start of their journey by making sure they allow enough time for all of these essential processes.”

In addition, passengers are reminded to allow plenty of time for their journey to the Airport, arriving at least two hours ahead of the scheduled departure time of their flight.

Last month the Transport Secretary, Justine Greening, opened three new aircraft stands at Bristol Airport, marking the completion of the first phase of development over the next decade. Improvements to existing facilities are also underway, with an additional immigration facility opening this summer and an expanded security search area already in place to increase the efficiency of these essential processes and reduce queues at peak times.
