2012-08-30 — /travelprnews.com/ — With debt and financial worries becoming an ever-increasing problem, East Belfast residents can avail of a new “Money Matters” counselling service, thanks to the George Best Belfast City Airport Community Fund.
The funding, awarded to East Belfast Community Counselling by the Community Fund which sees the airport fine airlines for operating late flights, has provided the group with much needed I.T equipment, allowing them to bring their counselling services to the streets of East Belfast.Roberta Richmond from East Belfast Community Counselling said:
“This funding has come at a time when our services are most in demand and our resources are being stretched to the limit. We simply don’t have room at our premises to see all those who rely on our vital debt counselling advice.
“The I.T equipment provided by the Community Fund has allowed us to effectively “go out on the streets” and bring our debt counselling services to various outreach centres in the community and to individuals that need it the most.”
To date, Belfast City Airport’s Community Fund has provided almost £100,000 of financial support to more than 40 community groups and projects in the airport’s neighbouring area.
Michelle Hatfield, Human Resources and Corporate Responsibility Director at Belfast City Airport, said:
“We value the close relationships we have in East Belfast and are always keen to support projects in the area that are of direct benefit to the community.
“The “Money Matters” services provided by East Belfast Community Counselling deliver essential support and advice to residents in our local area. They’re doing a fantastic job assisting the community on a number of issues, and the new I.T equipment allows them to reach a greater number of people in the area.”
East Belfast councillor Jim Rodgers said:
“East Belfast Community Counselling provides a wonderful service to local residents, and I am delighted that the new equipment means that they can now be mobile, and help as many people affected by debt as possible.”
