VIENNA, 2016-Jun-03 — /Travel PR News/ — Just in time before the UEFA European Championship in soccer (UEFA EURO 2016) begins in France, Austrian Airlines and the Austrian Football Association ÖFB are presenting an Airbus A321 of the Austrian Airlines fleet with a special ÖFB labeling. The aircraft with the registration number OE-LBA features the lettering “myDreamteam” and photos of eight players on the Austrian National Football Team, namely ÖFB team captain Christian Fuchs, along with Aleksandar Dragovic, Martin Harnik, Jakob Jantscher, Florian Klein, Heinz Lindner, Alessandro Schöpf and Kevin Wimmer. An oversized football adorns the tail fin of the medium-haul aircraft. The belly of the plane shows the inscription “Tooooor!” (German for “goooooal!”) instead of the usual greeting of “Servus”. It is so large that it can be easily recognized from the ground when the Airbus A321 flies above. The myDreamteam aircraft will be deployed on the European route network of Austrian Airlines.

“With this Airbus, we are taking the red-white-red flag out into the world. It is our flying ambassador for Austrian soccer”, explains Austrian Airlines CFO Heinz Lachinger. “The lettering ‘Tooooor!’ on the aircraft belly does not accidentally have five ‘o’s in it. We are looking forward to the Austrian team scoring at least that many goals in its games.”

ÖFB President Alfred Ludwig says: “Austrian Airlines has seized the occasion to create an appealing design. The Airbus aircraft stands out, and is a major eye-catcher.”

Facts on the special livery
The special foil featuring a material thickness of only 0.05 millimeters was affixed to the aircraft by Austrian Technik in 64 hours of work, and consists of 25 individual parts with a total area of 45m². Each of the eight windows displaying players on the Austrian National Football Team is 2m² in size. The football on the tail fin has a diameter of 2.4 meters. The foil is particularly durable and resists temperature fluctuations between +80°C and -60°C as well as strains on the fuselage resulting from pressure differences on the ground or in the air.

Austrian Airlines is the official airline of the Austrian Football Association ÖFB, the largest sports association in the country. The red-white-red flagship carrier will bring the athletes led by Marcel Koller, Head Coach of the Austrian National Football Team, along with team trainers, support staff and fans to UEFA EURO 2016 in France as well as to the away matches of the qualification phase of the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
