(PRESS RELEASE) Rome, Italy, 2024-Nov-5 — /Travel PR News/ — Airport Handling S.p.A., a majority-owned subsidiary of dnata, has received the go-ahead to launch its ground handling services at Rome Fiumicino Airport (FCO) following the Lazio Regional Administrative Court’s dismissal of an appeal by a previous service provider. This ruling upholds the legitimacy of Aeroporti di Roma’s decision to award Airport Handling a seven-year ground handling license at FCO.
With operations set to begin in early 2025, Airport Handling has committed over €20 million to ground support equipment, with more than 40% of its fleet being electric. To support its new FCO operations, the company plans to employ over 1,800 professionals, with a local management team already in place.
CEO Alberto Morosi expressed satisfaction with the court’s decision, reaffirming the company’s dedication to enhancing passenger experiences and providing high-quality, safe services at FCO. Airport Handling, which already serves over 60 airlines at Milan’s Malpensa and Linate airports, further strengthens its position as a key air services provider in Italy with this expansion into Rome.
