ACI Europe: Istanbul Atatürk Airport now Europe’s third largest airport in terms of number of passengers

ISTANBUL, 2014-03-12 — /Travel PR News/ — Becoming the fastest growing airport in its category in January, Atatürk Airport ranked the third airport in Europe in terms of number of passengers.

Operated by TAV Airports, Istanbul Atatürk Airport became the third largest airport of Europe in January in terms of number of passengers by an increase of 14.8 per cent compared to the same period of last year. According to the statement of Airports Council International (ACI Europe), the global platform of European airport operators, Istanbul Atatürk Airport ranked the third following London Heathrow and Paris CDG airports. Whilst the average passenger traffic increased 6.3 per cent at the European airports in January, Atatürk Airport achieved an increase of 14.8 per cent and became the fastest growing airport in its category.

According to data issued by DHMI, Atatürk Airport provided service to 4,105,184 passengers in January.
