Chef Silverton’s journey into the culinary world began with a determination to perfect her pastry skills, leading her to the prestigious Lenotre Culinary Institute in France. Her career soared as she became the head pastry chef at Wolfgang Puck’s innovative southern California restaurant, Spago.
A self-taught master of bread baking, Silverton’s passion culminated in the creation of La Brea Bakery in 1989. What started in a tiny storefront has grown into the nation’s top artisan bakery with 11 locations and global availability in 17 different countries. In 1990, the James Beard Foundation honoured her as “Pastry Chef of the Year,” and in 2014, she received the coveted James Beard Award for Outstanding Chef in America.
Her impact extends beyond the restaurant world, as she has authored 11 cookbooks, sharing her love for fine foods and culinary expertise.
