Jay Miller Named Director of Golf at Four Seasons Resort Costa Rica at Peninsula Papagayo

New director is 17-year resident of Costa Rica, 8-yearFour Seasons veteran, tropical turfgrass specialist and award-winning conservationist.

2013-02-21 — /travelprnews.com/ — Jay Miller has been promoted to Director of Golf at Four SeasonsResort Costa Rica. He was previously Director of Golf Operations at the Resort since the opening of the Arnold Palmer signature golf course in 2005.

Key accomplishments of Jay and golf colleagues at Four SeasonsResort Costa Rica have included:

  • Designation of the golf course as an Audubon Sanctuary in 2007.
  • Creation of the Trail of Giants Environmental Tour in 2007. More than 5,600 guests took the tour last year alone with the hour-long experience providing a fun way for guests, regardless of golf ability, to learn about the incredible wildlife and beauty of the course, native trees and natural setting.
  • Reforestation program through which guests have planted more than 3,500 native trees around the golf course since 2007.
  • Development of the first-ever real grass tennis court at anyFour Seasons property worldwide, opened in 2011.
  • Creation of the first real grass 18 hole mini golf course at anyFour Seasons property worldwide.
  • Maintenance of a world-class golf course at Four Seasons Resort Costa Rica that has been consistently ranked by Golf Digest as one of the Top 100 Courses Outside the United States, most recently in 2012. 

Prior to joining Four Seasons Resort Costa Rica, Jay was director of golf maintenance and director of grounds at Hacienda Pinilla Golf Course and golf course superintendent and construction superintendent at Rancho Los Colinas Golf Course, both in Costa Rica. He is a past recipient of the Environmental Leader in Golf Award from the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA) and Golf Digest, and recipient of the Costa Rican Blue Flag for Environmental Achievement.
