BUDAPEST, Hungary, 2019-Jun-21 — /Travel PR News/ — Wizz Air, the fastest growing airline in Europe, last week started a new low-fare service from its Serbian base in Belgrade to Lyon-Saint-Exupéry Airport in France.
Lyon is the third French destination Wizz Air operates flights to from Belgrade, next to Paris Beauvais and Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg. Service to Lyon started on 15 June 2018 and is operated on Tuesdays and Saturdays, with fares starting from as low as EUR 14.99 / RSD 1,799*. The maiden WIZZ flight from Belgrade landed in Lyon on 15 June with 147 passengers on board, underlining the demand for this route. Wizz Air currently offers 15 low-fare routes to 7 countries from Belgrade airport.
Lyon is the third-largest city and second-largest urban area of France. The city is known for its gastronomy, as well as historical and architectural landmarks. Part of it is registered as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Lyon played an important role in the history of cinema. That is where Auguste and Louis Lumière invented the cinematograph. It is also known for its light festival, the Fête des Lumières, which earned Lyon the title of the Capital of Lights.
It is not surprising that Lyon won the European Capital of Smart Tourism 2019 award granted by the European Union, a title it shares with Helsinki.
