Wizz Air announces new service from Bucharest to Lamezia Terme, Italy

BUDAPEST, HUNGARY, 2016-Sep-30 — /Travel PR News/ — Wizz Air, the largest low-cost airline in Central and Eastern Europe and Romania’s largest airline, today announced a new low-fare routes from its Bucharest base. The newest WIZZ service will connect the Romanian Capital with Lamezia Terme in the south of Italy, from 26 March 2017 with two weekly flights on Thursdays and Sundays. WIZZ’s first flight from Bucharest took off in 2007 and since then the airline has continuously grown its low-fare network in Romania – currently offering 122 routes to 18 countries from ten Romanian airports. WIZZ’s Romanian operations not only provide affordable access at WIZZ’s lowest fares between Romania and the rest of Europe, but also stimulate the local job market in aviation and tourism sectors. Over 600 Wizz Air colleagues currently work in Romania, looking forward to welcoming passengers on board WIZZ’s Romanian flights, which this year will support more than 3,300** jobs in associated industries throughout the country.

Demonstrating WIZZ’s dedication to its Romanian customers the airline is continuously investing in its Romanian operations and will grow its fleet in the country to 20 aircraft by the end of 2016, including 4 of the ultra-efficient brand new 230-seat Airbus A321. Throughout 2016 WIZZ has already announced and will start 28 new routes connecting Romania with the rest of Europe, including WIZZ’s first internal route connecting Bucharest with Cluj-Napoca which starts a new era in domestic Romanian air travel. With today’s announcement, WIZZ has seven routes still to start in the end of 2016 and early 2017 including such great destinations as Tenerife, Hanover, Billund and Lamezia Terme from Bucharest, Paris Beauvais and Venice Treviso from Craiova and London Luton from the newest Romanian WIZZ airport Satu Mare. Over the past 12 months ending 31 August 2016 Wizz Air carried more than 5 million passengers to and from Romania.
