2012-11-30 — /travelprnews.com/ — Winnipeg Airports Authority (WAA) is proud to acknowledge and pay tribute to the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) by permanently installing a “Home of the RCAF” sign and flying three flags in recognition of their role in our community.
“The Royal Canadian Air Force has a deep history and active presence in our community,” said Barry Rempel, President & CEO of Winnipeg Airports Authority. “Winnipeg Airports Authority is proud to show our support of the men and women of the RCAF and this visual display is one way of showing appAreciation of their efforts on behalf of our community and that of our Country.”
“It is an honour to have this symbolic recognition on display at the airport campus,” said Major-General Pierre St-Amand, Commander 1 Canadian Air Division. “Whether assisting during a flood or providing shelter for displaced visitors during an incident, we are proud to call this community home and thank our airport neighbours for this tribute.”
“Our government is proud to support the men and women of the Royal Canadian Air Force as they serve at home and abroad to protect the rights and freedoms we have today,” said the Honourable Steven Fletcher, Minister of State for Transport and Member of Parliament for Charleswood – St.James -Assiniboia. “From supporting combat missions in Afghanistan to helping flood victims right here in Manitoba, the men and women of the Royal Canadian Air Force always make us proud. Our government will continue to stand by our men and women in uniform that work to ensure that Canada remains the best place in the world to live.”
