2012-09-11 — /travelprnews.com/ — Winnipeg Airports Authority is honoured to receive the Service Excellence Award in recognition of the Goldwing Ambassador program from Travel Manitoba.
The Manitoba Tourism Awards were presented last night in recognition of outstanding contributions to the provincial tourism industry, including promoting Manitoba as a quality year-round destination, ensuring an exceptional visitor experience and fostering a professional tourism industry.
“We are honoured to receive this recognition for our Goldwing Ambassador program,” said Barry Rempel, President & CEO of Winnipeg Airports Authority. “We are privileged to have 107 volunteers serving passengers and airport visitors to provide an important and human element to the travel experience at Winnipeg Richardson International.”
Goldwing Ambassadors are volunteers who give their time to assist passengers and other airport visitors, helping create a positive impression of our city and province. Over the past 15 years, the program has grown from 25 volunteers to 107, attracting a diverse volunteer base with the ability to provide assistance in over 19 languages. In 2011, Goldwing Ambassadors volunteered a total of 15, 623 hours ensuring visitors had a positive experience.
