WHISTLER, BC, 2016-Jan-18 — /Travel PR News/ — Whistler Blackcomb has been named one of Canada’s Top Employers for Young People in 2016. The annual competition recognizes employers offering the nation’s best workplaces and programs for young people entering the work force. This year marks the fifth consecutive year the editors of Canada’s Top 100 Employers have recognized Whistler Blackcomb in this competition. Leading organizations are chosen based on the availability of benefits, training, mentorship and co-op or work-study programs and the ability to attract and retain younger employees.
“We consider this a great accomplishment,” says Joel Chevalier, Vice President of Employee Experience at Whistler Blackcomb. “Creating a positive and engaging work atmosphere has always been one of our top priorities as an employer. It is extremely fulfilling to see our efforts to attract the younger demographic being recognized.”
Whistler Blackcomb offers a number of programs geared toward attaining younger employees, including paid internship and co-op opportunities to students in a variety of departments. Career development opportunities are also widely available as employees have unlimited access to The Learning Curve, an in-house training program which includes courses on topics such as conflict resolution, effective communication and interview skills.
“We have a very unique culture throughout our organization,” says Chevalier. “All of our employees are very passionate about the mountains which drives such a positive energy throughout the workplace. Many of our higher level managers and senior leaders have been promoted over time from entry-level positions and have been with the company for several years.”
