(NEWS) VILNIUS / DUBAI / TURKU, 2025-Dec-12 — /Travel PR News/ — Vilnius is stepping into a new phase of international connectivity as two airlines launch new services to Lithuania’s capital, strengthening its links to both the Middle East and Northern Europe and underscoring the city’s growing appeal as a year-round destination for tourism, culture, and business.

This week, flydubai inaugurated direct flights between Dubai and Vilnius, becoming the first UAE carrier to offer nonstop connectivity between the two cities. Operating three times per week, the route plugs Vilnius directly into one of the world’s most important global aviation hubs, opening onward access to more than 200 destinations across the Middle East, Asia, Africa, and the Indian Ocean via flydubai and Emirates’ codeshare network. Lithuanian authorities expect the route alone to carry around 40,000 passengers in its first year, with benefits extending well beyond leisure travel to include trade, investment, and inbound tourism growth.

At the same time, Wizz Air has launched a new scheduled connection between Turku, Finland, and Vilnius, operating three to four times weekly with Airbus A321neo aircraft. The short 1 hour and 25 minute flight strengthens Vilnius’ position within the Nordic–Baltic corridor, improving accessibility for regional travelers while reinforcing the city’s role as a convenient gateway between Northern and Central Europe. The route was formally celebrated at Turku Airport with local and diplomatic representatives, reflecting its broader importance for regional mobility and economic ties.

Together, the two route launches signal rising confidence in Vilnius as a destination that balances accessibility with authenticity. Just 15 minutes from Vilnius Airport, visitors arrive in a compact city centre defined by UNESCO-listed Old Town streets, baroque towers, contemporary art spaces, and a lively café culture that rewards slow exploration. Surrounded by forests and parks, Vilnius has earned a reputation as one of Europe’s greenest capitals, while its cultural calendar keeps the city animated year-round — from open-air summer concerts and autumn film festivals to winter markets crowned by a Christmas tree regularly ranked among the world’s most striking.

The city’s growing international profile is also reflected in its ability to host major global events. In December, Vilnius welcomed VitiNord 2025, the world’s leading conference on cool-climate viticulture and enology, bringing more than 200 experts from over 20 countries to the city. Hosting the conference for the first time in the Baltic States highlighted Vilnius’ emergence as a credible hub for international science, innovation, and cultural exchange.

For travelers, the new routes offer contrasting but complementary experiences: flydubai’s Dubai service opens Vilnius to long-haul markets and premium leisure flows, while Wizz Air’s Turku connection strengthens short-haul, low-cost access within Northern Europe. For Vilnius, the combined effect is clear — enhanced visibility, broader reach, and a growing role as one of the Baltics’ most dynamic and discoverable capitals.
