(PRESS RELEASE) New York, NY, 2023-Dec-14 — /Travel PR News/ — Collezione Em announced the opening of Violino d’Oro, a five-star boutique hotel that pays homage to the rich cultural and artistic heritage of Venice by showcasing the city’s deep history. A true gem, Violino d’Oro is a charming hideaway nestled along the canals, two minutes from Piazza San Marco, where guests can indulge in exquisite art and experience the magnificence of an intimate, truly Italian palazzo. The hotel is the masterpiece of Sara and Elena Maestrelli, highlighting the hospitality business that has been actively curated for over three decades by the female lineage of the talented Italian Florentine Family. With its prime location in the heart of Venice, Violino d’Oro is set to become a must-stay property for travelers seeking an authentic Venetian experience.

“Violino d’Oro is an Italian artisanal project designed like a home,” said Sara Maestrelli, co-owner and visionary behind the Violino d’Oro project. “Every fabric, piece of furniture, plate, or glass has been crafted between Venice and Tuscany. Our concept of sustainability, encompassing both environmental and social aspects, is centered on choosing objects that endure over time, crafted locally from superior natural materials. We give precedence to quality, sustainability, and ethics, along with embracing a more conscious and accountable method of travel. Through designing Violino d’Oro, we have touched on the magic of some of the most phenomenal craftsmen in Italy, including great glories and young artists. We want to thank each one of them for helping us create our dream home on the lagoon.”

Across three remarkable edifices, the hotel resides in a historical building from the 17th century, featuring 32 rooms that extend from Calle XXII Marzo to Campo San Moisè and along Rio de S. Moisè. Together with the esteemed architect Piera Tempesti Benelli and the vision of Sara and Elena, Violino d’Oro celebrates the floating city as a place of cultural encounter throughout history from the 18th century to the present day. A tribute to Venice’s role as a driving force behind cultural movements and great masterpieces, its design and décor showcase a wide range of artistic styles, from ancient art to Oriental influences, as well as unique contemporary art and design pieces.

The hotel showcases exquisite craftsmanship in fabrics, glass, and floors, including original Venetian seminato handmade by one of the oldest artisan families still in operation today. The hotel’s design includes contributions from renowned brands such as Rubelli, Venini, Martinelli Luce, Gebrüder Thonet, Asin Terrazzieri Veneziani, Richard Ginori, Cattelan Italia, and many more. Each piece of fabric, furniture, plate, and glass has been crafted between Venice and Tuscany, highlighting the Violino d’Oro idea of sustainability to choose local pieces that will stand the test of time. Rubelli’s expert artisans handcrafted 100% of the fabrics at Violino d’Oro in Venice, showcasing an elaborate combination of traditional velvets and time-honored Venetian broccati from sofas and pillows to headboards and curtains.

The heart and soul of Venetian glassmaking light up Violino d’Oro’s entrance, featuring three large Poliedri chandeliers with dark green and transparent polyhedral glass elements by Venini. The Violino d’Oro floor tells a magical story of Venetian savoir-faire passed on through generations of the Asin family. Handcrafted with a mixture of marble pebbles and cement, with the decorations designed by hand, posing one marble at a time, the marble was curated and selected from the city of Carrara in shades of white and dark green before being transported to Venice to be worked on by Erminio Asin. These brands are known for their high quality and unique designs, making Violino d’Oro a true architectural and design masterpiece that will offer a truly unique and luxurious experience for guests, under the guidance of experienced architects and designers.

At Il Piccolo, the hotel’s in-house restaurant, Executive Chef Stefano Santo carves out a forward-thinking style of cuisine with a focus on plant-based meals, seasonality, and locally sourced ingredients to showcase Venice’s diverse cuisine. With only nine tables adorned with typical Venetian windows overlooking Campo Barozzi in an intimate and cozy space, Il Piccolo invites guests to taste the local flavors of Venice with a sustainable approach. By hand-selecting the freshest herbs and vegetables from Sant’Erasmo Island and Treviso and fish from the lagoon, Chef Santo creates innovative dishes like vegetarian and lagoon-sourced cicchetti. Santo’s vision extends beyond food, aiming to create “Piccole Emozioni” or “Little Emotions,” thereby transforming meals into memorable experiences. The appointment of Chef Santo at Il Piccolo is a promise to reclaim Venice through locality and tradition, positioning Violino d’Oro and Il Piccolo as an embodiment of the city’s rich past, dynamic present, and positive future.
