Travelport honors the brightest stars of the travel industry in Afghanistan

Kabul, Afghanistan, 2013-06-10 — /travelprnews.com/ — Travelport – the leading provider of critical transaction processing solutions and data for the global travel industry – recently gathered Afghanistan’s travel industry in Kabul for a special awards ceremony.

Organized by Travel Solutions – the official distributor of Travelport’s Galileo system in Afghanistan – this was the first event of its kind ever organized by a Global Distribution System (GDS) provider in Afghanistan.  The ceremony recognized the continuous support and outstanding performance by Travelport subscriber agents in Afghanistan in the past year.

A number of well-known names from the local travel trade attended the event, hosted by Ali Naqi Taqi, CEO of Travel Solutions, along with regional Travelport representatives including Jennifer DSouza, Regional Commercial Director for Gulf, Levant, Pakistan and Turkey.

Commenting on the event, Ali Naqi Taqi, CEO, Travel Solutions, said: “This event celebrates Afghanistan’s travel industry. The technology landscape is changing rapidly and Travelport will continue support travel agents in the country as they embrace new technologies to be more efficient and profitable.”

Jennifer D’Souza, Travelport’s Regional Commercial Director for Gulf, Levant, Pakistan and Turkey, added: “It was great to be in Kabul to honor some of the brightest stars of the travel agency network in Afghanistan.  Travelport was the first GDS to enter Afghanistan in 2004 and our continued strength in this country wouldn’t be possible without our valued travel agency partners. It is because of their commitment and success that Travelport remains the preferred technology provider in Afghanistan to this day.”
