(PRESS RELEASE) SEOUL, 2025-Jul-28 — /Travel PR News/ — Korean Air has commemorated three decades of continuous service between Seoul and Washington, D.C., with a celebratory event at Dulles International Airport on July 25. The milestone highlights the airline’s longstanding role in fostering diplomatic, economic, and cultural ties between South Korea and the United States.

To honour the 30th anniversary of the route, Korean Air surprised the 30th passenger checking in for flight KE094 with a complimentary round-trip ticket to Seoul Incheon. All passengers on the flight also received special anniversary-themed gifts, including exclusive travel pouches created to mark the occasion.

Korean Air inaugurated its Washington, D.C. route in July 1995 with a one-stop service via New York. By 1999, the route was upgraded to nonstop flights, significantly enhancing direct connectivity between the U.S. capital and the Korean peninsula. Since 2008, the airline has operated the only nonstop daily service by a Korean carrier between Seoul Incheon and Washington, D.C.

This strategic route has played a critical role in facilitating high-level diplomatic visits, Korea-U.S. summits, and supporting the expanding Korean community in the Mid-Atlantic region. Its importance has only grown over time, especially in the realms of premium, government, and business travel.

Jin Ho Lee, Senior Vice President and Head of Americas Regional Headquarters at Korean Air, expressed gratitude for the continued success of the route: “Washington, D.C., alongside New York and Los Angeles, forms a central part of our U.S. network. Over the past 30 years, this route has become a crucial gateway, and we remain dedicated to delivering exceptional service to our passengers.”

As Korean Air looks ahead, it reaffirms its commitment to maintaining high standards of service, while expanding its global network to meet the evolving needs of international travellers.
