Third Direct European Route from Blue Islands

2012-08-31 — /travelprnews.com/ — Local airline Blue Islands, today announce a new direct service to Chambery for ski travel this Winter. The direct service will give travellers from Jersey the fastest access to the French Alps during the 2012 – 2013 ski season.

Chambery is the most central airport in the Alps, making it the easiest and quickest way to get to the slopes. Known as the gateway to the mountains, the ideal location of the airport gives access to many major ski resorts in the French Alps.

Including the Blue Islands Geneva service, direct flights to the French Alps are now available 5 days a week, providing more choice and flexibility for local ski enthusiasts.

Rob Veron, managing director, looks forward to the launch.

“As we continue to deliver our promise of growth and providing the best destinations for local passengers, I’m delighted to announce our new direct service to Chambery, located in the heart of the French Alps, you can be in resort in just three hours from leaving Jersey airport. More direct services to Europe is what our islands need and Blue Islands will deliver just that.”

Blue Islands now fly to ten destinations from Jersey with Chambery the third direct European route offered by the locally based airline. This is the fifth direct service from Jersey that Blue Islands have launched over the last 16 months.

Mr Veron continues,

“This direct Saturday service to Chambery, not only caters for one of the busiest resort days, but perfectly compliments our already popular Switzerland services to Zurich and Geneva. Now we can offer our ever loyal passengers direct access to the mountains, 5 days a week. Our direct flights coupled with no charges for ski equipment, means we’re offering the smart way to book ski travel this winter.”

The Blue Islands no baggage charges policy saves ski travellers significant cost as other carriers charge around £30, per person, per flight, to carry ski equipment. Within two hours from Chambery airport, 150 resorts can be accessed including some of the most popular resorts such as Meribel, Val Thorens, Tignes, Courcheval, Chamonix, Val d’Isere, Les Arcs and La Plagne. The direct flights are 1 hour 50 minutes and avoid wasting time and money flying over Southampton or London.

Bookings can be made now on the Blue Islands website, Blueislands.com and flight prices start from £109 with no hidden charges. The price quoted is the complete price paid when booking with Blue Islands.
