POWELL, OH, 2013-08-15— /travelprnews.com/ — Due to dino demand at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, the popular Dinosaur Island experience will remain open daily through October 27.
Twenty-five animatronic dinosaurs arrived at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium on April 29 and found a home in the Australia and the Islands region of the Zoo. Originally set to close Labor Day weekend, the popular experience will remain open through the fall season.
Billings Productions, of Allen, Texas, produced the dinos, equipped with electronic “brains” that activate and control movements and sounds through a pneumatic system. These animals, made of steel with a urethane waterproof skin, have eyes that blink, tails that move and mouths that make loud noises.
Through these realistic, fun and entertaining animatronic experiences, the Columbus Zoo has educated guests about the prehistoric past and its lessons for our planet’s future.
Dinosaurs including brachiosaurus, stegosaurus and a 42-foot-long and 7 thousand pound Tyrannosaurus Rex that stands 25-feet-tall, will remain on display through Boo at the Zoo, October 27.
Admission to Dinosaur Island is $3 for general admission, $2 for Columbus Zoo members and is included in the price of a Zoo-It-All ride wristband. Some of the dinosaurs are visible to all Zoo guests who visit this region, while most require the special admission ticket. When inside the Dinosaur Island Experience, visitors can get close to the dinosaurs, dig in an archaeological pit, take a boat ride and visit a gift shop. Photos with dinosaurs are also available.
