Award-Winning Actress Shares a New Perspective on Parisian Life, Specially Curated For Chinese Travelers

Bethesda, MD, 2019-Feb-22 — /Travel PR News/ — The Luxury Collection®, part of Marriott International, Inc., today (02/20/2019) released an original short film featuring the brand’s newest Global Explorer, award-winning Chinese actress Zhou Dongyu. The film showcases Zhou in the French capital as she explores Paris through the lens of The Luxury Collection and its stunning properties Prince de Galles and Hôtel de Berri, offering a glimpse into the hidden treasures of the destination.

Following Zhou’s first film collaboration with The Luxury Collection in which she experienced Suiran, a Luxury Collection Hotel in Kyoto, this latest video features Zhou revisiting Paris for the first time as a Global Explorer. Zhou immerses herself in the beautiful details of Parisian life, and as many seasoned travelers before her, learns to trust her own intuition to depart from the stereotypes of a destination, allowing her to see Paris in a fresh light. Through the timeless charm of an early morning in Montmarte, the eternal journey of the Seine, hidden art treasures of Pont Saint-Louis, the magic of an old bookstore and in the heavenly scent of warm croissants from a local bakery, Zhou rediscovers the indigenous beauty of Paris through the lens of a Chinese Global Explorer.

“Paris has meant so many things to me throughout different points of my life, and as a Global Explorer for The Luxury Collection, I am excited to present a new perspective on this timeless city,” said Zhou Dongyu. “Its culture, style and charm has captivated countless generations of travelers, and I was able to discover a new take on the city through my experiences with The Luxury Collection and their captivating hotels. As a Global Explorer, I want to inspire other travelers to reconnect with this beautiful place – whether they are visiting for the first time or have been countless times before – and maybe rediscover themselves at the same time.”

During her time in Paris, Zhou visited The Luxury Collection’s stunning properties, including the iconic Prince de Galles and the newly-opened Hôtel de Berri. Situated on Rue de Berri, Hôtel de Berri enjoys an ideal location on one of the most sought-after addresses in Paris that has served as a home to aristocrats, royals and prominent leaders in French society since the 19th century. Hôtel de Berri draws inspiration from the trailblazers of the French Decorative Arts period including painters, designers and stylists from Coco Chanel to Salvador Dalí, with interior designs reflecting the “Art de Vivre” ethos made famous in the heart of Paris. The equally impressive Prince de Galles is located in the city’s most desirable quarter, the Golden Triangle by Champs-Elysées. This beautiful art deco building has been an iconic jewel on Avenue George V since its opening in 1928, and the hotel greets distinguished guests and celebrities with its Michelin-starred restaurant, traditional French hospitality and exceptional service.

“The Luxury Collection welcomes global explorers who appreciate the uniqueness of each destination,” said Bruce Ryde, Vice President for Luxury Brands and Brand Management, Asia Pacific, Marriott International. “For us, Zhou Dongyu represents the sophisticated next generation of Chinese world traveler, who value and appreciate the possibilities of experiential luxury travel and self-discovery.”

The Luxury Collection’s Global Explorer program brings together influential voices from the world’s most discerning tastemakers, celebrating the vibrancy of the world’s destinations through the eyes of leading cultural voices. Representing a broad selection of creative endeavors, these personalities are united by a deep understanding of world cultures, while identifying travel experiences in their own personal way. In addition to the brand’s newest partnership with Zhou Dongyu, The Luxury Collection recently debuted the launch of its second collaboration with Global Explorer Sofia Sanchez de Betak – a capsule collection of dresses, jackets and kimonos inspired by her travels with The Luxury Collection in Japan. Through these exclusive collaborations part of the Global Explorer program, The Luxury Collection further reinforces the brand’s longstanding dedication to helping travelers from all over the world to embark on extraordinary journeys and one-of-a-kind experiences.

As one of the most well-respected actresses in China, Zhou Dongyu’s naturally graceful composure has won her critical acclaim in film and with Chinese audiences in a variety of roles including the girl-next-door Jingqiu in Under the Hawthorn Tree and the rebellious heroine Ansheng in Soul Mate, winning her the prestigious Golden Horse Award for Best Leading Actress. As an ambassador for The Luxury Collection, Zhou traveled to Suiran, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Kyoto to shoot a video for the brand, sharing her thoughts on travel and how exploring different indigenous cultures impacts her personal life as an actress. Through her role as a Global Explorer, Zhou will continue to share a fresh and unique Chinese perspective on the brand’s captivating destinations as she continues to travel with the brand.

The Luxury Collection brand boasts a collection of over 100 of the finest hotels and resorts in more than 30 countries, a broad spectrum of geographic locations that enables globetrotters to expand their outlook with authentic and indigenous experiences. The brand now has seven outstanding properties in cities across China, including Shanghai, Nanjing, Sanya and Changsha.
