The Cedar Rapids Airport Commission officially names Don Swanson as Interim Airport Director

Cedar Rapids, Iowa, 2014-9-12 — /Travel PR News/ — The Cedar Rapids Airport Commission has officially named Don Swanson as Interim Airport Director. Tim Bradshaw, the previous airport director for The Eastern Iowa Airport, accepted a new position as the executive director of the Roanoke–Blacksburg Regional Airport in Roanoke Virginia.

Don Swanson, Director of Finance at The Eastern Iowa Airport, has been with the airport since February 1987 and served as Interim Airport Director after the resignation of Dan Mann, Bradshaw’s predecessor, in 2009.

“With Don’s tenure and familiarity with all phases of the airport’s operations, it is appropriate to ask him to fill that role,” said Josh Schamberger, Cedar Rapids Airport Commission Chair.

Schamberger said the commission will take steps to conduct a nationwide search to replace Bradshaw.  They expect to choose an aviation management recruitment firm to conduct the search in the near future.

“We will have a strong candidate pool to choose from,” said Schamberger. “The Eastern Iowa Airport has to be one of the most attractive Airport Director opportunities in the country. We will be completely debt free at the conclusion of FY15 and have tremendous things happening in air service, capital improvements, economic development, and community engagement. Combine that with the quality of living in the Corridor and the Commission is confident that we will find strong candidate that will be able to continue our success.”
