TAP Air Portugal Expands US Network with New Direct Flight to Los Angeles and Hollywood Contest

(IN SHORT) TAP Air Portugal has launched a direct flight between Lisbon and Los Angeles on 16 May, connecting Portugal to the entertainment capital of the world. Initially operated three times a week, the route will soon increase to four flights per week. To celebrate, TAP is offering a contest in partnership with actor José Condessa, where participants can win a round-trip to Los Angeles and two tickets to Paramount Studios. TAP continues to expand its US network, now serving eight airports across the country, with plans for a new Azores-California connection starting in June.

(PRESS RELEASE) LISBON, 2025-May-20 — /Travel PR News/ — On 16 May, TAP Air Portugal celebrated the launch of its new direct route between Lisbon and Los Angeles, connecting Portugal to the heart of Southern California. The new service, operated by the Airbus A330-900 with a capacity for 298 passengers, will initially run three times a week—on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays—until 26 May, when a fourth weekly service on Saturdays will be added.

The flights depart from Lisbon at 09:55 and arrive in Los Angeles at 14:40, with a flight duration of 12 hours and 45 minutes. The return leg departs Los Angeles at 16:40, landing in Lisbon at 12:00 the following day, with a slightly shorter duration of 11 hours and 20 minutes. Return fares for the Lisbon-Los Angeles route start at 679 euros.

To celebrate this new connection, TAP is launching an exciting contest in partnership with actor José Condessa, offering a round-trip for two to Los Angeles and two tickets to Paramount Studios. The competition invites participants to recreate a scene from their favorite film or series, with the winner earning the chance to visit Hollywood and experience its magic firsthand.

The new Los Angeles route adds to TAP’s growing presence in the US, now flying to eight US airports: New York, Newark, Boston, Miami, Washington DC, San Francisco, and Los Angeles. TAP also flies from Porto to Newark and, as of this week, to Boston. Starting 3 June, TAP’s weekly flight between Lisbon and San Francisco on Tuesdays will make a stopover in Terceira, offering a new direct flight between the Azores island and California to serve the large Azorean community.
