SSP to open two new Starbucks stores at Stockholm Arlanda Airport

2013-03-25 — /travelprnews.com/ — SSP is opening two new Starbucks stores at Stockholm Arlanda airport. The first, located in the airport’s Terminal 2 will begin trading on March 26th. The new opening is part of a major redevelopment of the terminal by airport operator Swedavia, which will see all retail units at the airport refurbished or replaced.

The second, which is scheduled to open on 22nd April, will be located at the airport’s new SkyBridge, between the domestic Terminal 4 and international Terminal 5. This area is open to the general public as well as passengers, which will make the store the first Starbucks in Stockholm that can be used by non-travellers.

Commenting on the new opening, Roel Huinink, managing director of ASDC, responsible for retail, food & beverage and commercial services at Stockholm Arlanda Airport and Gothenburg Landvetter Airport said: ‘Our aim is to create an inspiring environment where passengers can relax before their flight. The first Starbucks in Sweden opened at Arlanda Terminal 5 in 2010, and since that time, our customers have really enjoyed the Starbucks brand. Our new Starbucks at Terminal 2 and SkyBridge will give both passengers and visitors more great opportunities to enjoy the Starbucks experience.’

‘We’ve been delighted with the response from our Swedish customers. They are real coffee lovers and have embraced our brand with genuine passion.  It is part of our brand vision to be where our customers want us; at work, at home and when travelling,’ added Arjan Oudejans, director of licensed stores for Starbucks Coffee EMEA BV.

Lars Edengréen, managing director of SSP Sweden was similarly confident that the new outlet would be well received. ‘The new stores will give passengers even more reasons to arrive early at the airport and make a visit to Arlanda the best part of the journey.’

SSP currently operates three Starbucks stores in Sweden – one at Stockholm Arlanda Airport, one at Göteborg Central Station and another at Malmö Central Station.
