A Food & Wine Tasting with Latin Flare at Makena!
Wailea, Makena, 2013-01-08 — /travelprnews.com/ — The Makena Beach & Golf Resort’s Food & Wine Education Series partnership with Master Sommelier Patrick Okubo continues in year 2013 with a whole year of new food and wine tasting events. On Thursday January 10, 2013 at 6 PM the Makena Beach & Golf Resort hosts a tasting event with some Latin flavor, pairing Spanish Wines and Tapas at the Molokini Bar & Grille.
For this Spanish Wines and Tapas tasting event Master Sommelier Patrick Okubo pairs exotic wines of Don Olagario Albarino, Montebuena Rioja and Embruix Priorat Vall Llach with Executive Chef Marc McDowell’s tapas or small plate dishes like scallops tossed in light olive oil and citrus flavors, or Albondigas (Spanish meatballs), or how about a little Spanish chorizo, flavored with dried smoked red peppers. This exclusive tasting is offered at only $35 per person, not including tax or gratuity.
This tasting event is part of the resort’s Food & Wine Education Series at Makena, featuring a culinary event every month that pairs the best of Executive Chef Marc McDowell’s fresh and cultured dishes with the best of old world and new world wines chosen by Master Sommelier Patrick Okubo. The series will focus on various wines paired with dishes made with fresh local ingredients from local farms and companies. During each event Chef McDowell will provide cooking demonstrations for each dish while Okubo will educate on the wines chosen for each event. For February, the resort will host a “Pasta and Italian Wines” Tasting Event on February 7, 2013 from 6 – 7 p.m. at the Molokini Bar & Grille. This event will pair old world Italian wines with the pasta dishes from each wine’s corresponding region.
