SKYTRAX Airline Star Ranking is poised to announce upgrade for several Airline Star Ranking levels in early 2013

London, UK , 2012-12-10 — /travelprnews.com/ — The Official Skytrax Airline Star Ranking programme is the Quality Analysis system that ranks airline product and service standards worldwide, with professional evaluation conducted by Skytrax airline audit specialists. Before a Star Rating level is awarded, SKYTRAX conduct a detailed Quality analysis across more than 800 different areas of product and service delivery for an individual airline.

Commenting on changes in Star Ranking Awards to be made in early 2013, Edward Plaisted of Skytrax said:

“At the very top end of the Quality scale is the Skytrax Official 5-Star Airline category, and at this time we are currently expecting to add one more airline into this top group. The standards required to meet the 5-Star Airline award are very demanding, and we know that it is a double-edged responsibility when we make such 5-Star award. We need to have complete confidence that airlines are able to deliver to our 5-Star quality levels on a consistent basis, because of the inferred trust that many customers place in our ranking when they select an airline based on it’s Star Ranking level.”

“We currently have two 3-Star Airlines which we expect to see awarded the 4-Star Airline classification in the early part of 2013, and have also decided on an upgrade of a 2-Star Airline to the 3-Star Airline category during January 2013” added Plaisted.

The Airline Star Ranking programme operates a continuous policy of internal review within Skytrax, and further details of planned changes and potential Star Ranking upgrade items will be published again during January 2013.
