(PRESS RELEASE) SINGAPORE, 2026-Mar-23 — /Travel PR News/ — Singapore Airlines has announced the launch of daily flights between Singapore and Hangzhou, China, beginning on 1 June 2026, subject to regulatory approvals. The new route strengthens the airline’s presence in mainland China and enhances connectivity to the Yangtze River Delta, one of the country’s most important economic regions.

The service will be operated using the Airbus A350-900 medium-haul aircraft, configured with 303 seats, including 40 in Business Class and 263 in Economy Class. The new flights are designed to meet growing demand from both business and leisure travellers seeking direct connections between Singapore and Hangzhou.

The inaugural flight, SQ838, will depart Singapore at 17:40 local time on 1 June 2026 and arrive in Hangzhou at 22:50 the same day. The return service, SQ839, will depart Hangzhou shortly after midnight at 00:10 local time on 2 June 2026, arriving back in Singapore at 05:10.

This new service will complement existing daily flights to Hangzhou operated by Scoot, the low-cost subsidiary of Singapore Airlines. With the addition of Hangzhou, Singapore Airlines will serve nine destinations in mainland China, including Beijing, Chengdu, Chongqing, Guangzhou, Shanghai, Shenzhen, and Xiamen. Combined with Scoot’s network, the SIA Group will operate to a total of 22 destinations across mainland China.

Dai Haoyu, Senior Vice President Marketing Planning at Singapore Airlines, highlighted that the new route responds to increasing travel demand while strengthening the airline’s footprint in a strategically important market. He noted that the additional service will provide customers with greater flexibility, improved connectivity, and more travel options between Singapore, China, and the wider region.

Hangzhou, located in Zhejiang province, is a prominent tourist and commercial centre. Known for attractions such as the UNESCO-listed West Lake, as well as its historic temples and renowned Longjing tea plantations, the city also plays a key role in China’s technology and e-commerce sectors, making it an important destination for both tourism and business travel.

Tickets for the new Singapore–Hangzhou route will be progressively made available through Singapore Airlines’ booking channels from 23 March 2026.

The introduction of this route underscores Singapore Airlines’ continued commitment to expanding its network and strengthening connectivity across Asia, supporting both regional travel demand and international business links.
