Businesses and families gather for holiday events benefiting pediatric programs at Georgetown’s Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center
Washington, DC, U.S.A. – 2012-12-10 — /travelprnews.com/ — The seventh-annual Georgetown Jingle will take place on December 16, 2012, at Four Seasons Hotel Washington, DC. The family-friendly holiday extravaganza, hosted each year by Four Seasons and the design community, benefits Medstar Georgetown University Hospital’s pediatric oncology programs.
Each year, Washington’s interior design community comes together to support the event. Top designers festoon a total of 17 holiday-themed trees and vignettes in the Hotel’s lobby. Arlington-based designer Michael Roberson is the 2012 design chair and selected, with her committee, the participating designers. This year, Sandi Hoffman of Sandi R. Hoffman Special Events created the majestic centre tree in the Hotel lobby. The winning ticket will be selected at the event and the winner will not need to be present to claim the prize.
The Georgetown Jingle benefits the pediatric programs at Medstar Georgetown University Hospital. The funds raised by the 2011 Jingle have established a pediatric bone marrow transplant unit in collaboration with Duke University Hospital, funded unique patient rooms that inspire and support the healing process and funded the special initiatives for the Childhood Cancer Survivorship Program.
The funds raised by the 2012 Georgetown Jingle will continue to support the operational and training facilities for the Pediatric Bone Marrow Transplant Unit. This year the event expands its support to include the growth of social worker and educator support in the pediatric palliative care program to provide the highest quality of life for children and families throughout the course of illness. The programs are directed by Dr. Aziza Shad, one of the region’s most respected oncologists.
Over the past six years, the Georgetown Jingle has raised USD 1.5 million for these pediatric programs. This charitable event helps spotlight childhood cancer, the leading cause of death among US children between infancy and age 15. The 2012 event chair is Donna Shank, the mother of Daniel Shank-Rowe, a Medstar Georgetown University Hospital Patient Ambassador and cancer survivor.
Tickets are USD 150.00 per person, USD 350.00 for families of four, USD 50.00 for kids 3-18, and free for children under 2. The ticket price includes all event features – food, open bar, entertainment, tree/vignette displays, silent auction and much more.
