Santa’s Test Flight planned at Winnipeg Richardson International Airport

2012-12-19 — /travelprnews.com/ — Winnipeg Airports Authority and STARS are pleased to host around 150 children from the Winnipeg School Division to participate in Santa’s “Test Flight”.

In preparation for Christmas Eve Take-Off, Santa is taking to the skies to conduct a Test Flight – an important flight mission to ensure holiday readiness.

Invited to watch Santa’s Test Flight touch down, children from Mulvey School, Strathcona Community School, and Dufferin Elementary School will gather at the airport firehall and treated to lunch. Local entertainer Fred Penner will make a special appearance as will local musician Sean Quigley.

“Helping children feel the joy of the holidays is very rewarding and just one of the ways we’re giving back to the community this holiday season,” said Barry Rempel, President & CEO of Winnipeg Airports Authority. “We are grateful to our community partners and sponsors who participate and make this event possible.”

“We are very pleased to participate in this wonderful event”, said STARS base director and pilot Jon Gogan. “And it’s a good thing we fly with twin engines – let’s just say Santa looks extra jolly this year.”

“I decided to give Rudolph and the rest of the team a break for this delivery,” says Mr. Claus. “Riding in the STARS helicopter is pretty cool, and I like the red colour – it matches my suit.”

Other event sponsors include Pizza Hotline, SSP Canada, Dairy Queen, Beaver Bus Lines, Greyhound, Canada Safeway, Subway, 7-Eleven, AventPro, STARS, Fred Penner, Sean Quigley and the Winnipeg Free Press.
