SAN FRANCISCO — 2012-11-19 — /travelprnews.com/ — Airports Council International – North America (ACI-NA), the foremost advocate for airport operators in North America, has awarded San Francisco International Airport (SFO) first place honors for the airport’s outstanding concession program.
In the Large Airport category, SFO won First Place for “Best Food & Beverage Program” for its offerings in Terminal 2. It also took top honors for “Best New Food & Beverage (Self-Service Concept)” for Napa Farms Market, which is also located in Terminal 2.
In addition, SFO achieved 3rd Place awards for “Best Innovative Consumer Experience Concept or Practice” and “Best Green Concessions Practice or Concept”. In this category, the airport was recognized for its sustainable food policy, which outlines a variety of objectives for all concessions, including compostable packaging, portion sizes which support good health, and organic product sourcing.
“I am proud to share this award with the dedicated team at San Francisco International Airport,” said Airport Director John L. Martin. “We remain focused on our goal to be the airport of choice for customers, and this recognition demonstrates our commitment.”
Announced during a conference in Denver, winners were selected through a record-breaking number of nominations received from airports of all sizes throughout the U.S. and Canada.
