Ryanair to open its first Spanish C-check maintenance hangar at Seville Airport

150 HIGH-TECH engineering JOBS & €8M investment

DUBLIN, Ireland, 2017-Apr-13 — /Travel PR News/ — Ryanair, Spain’s No.1 airline, today (12 Apr) announced it will open its first Spanish C-check maintenance hangar at Seville Airport from early 2018. Construction of this state of the art maintenance hangar will begin shortly and will create up to 150 high-tech jobs, including licensed engineers, mechanics and support staff, as Ryanair invests over €8m at Seville Airport.

This facility will accommodate heavy maintenance checks for Ryanair’s Boeing 737-800 fleet, as it continues to take delivery of its 380 new Boeing aircraft order, which will allow the airline to grow to 600 aircraft and increase its passenger numbers to 200m p.a. by 2024, resulting in the creation of more than 1,000 new engineering jobs across Europe.

Ryanair opened its base at Seville Airport in 2010 and recently launched its winter 2017 schedule with 15 new winter routes to Bari, Cologne, Copenhagen, East Midlands, Hamburg, Ibiza, Krakow, Manchester, Memmingen, Naples, Toulouse, Valencia, Valladolid, Verona and Warsaw and 35 routes in total, which will deliver 1.9m customers p.a. and support 1,400 “on-site” jobs at Seville Airport.

Ryanair’s Chief Operations Officer, Mick Hickey said:

“As Spain’s biggest airline, Ryanair is pleased to announce an €8m investment at our first Spanish C-check maintenance hangar facility in Seville. This one bay maintenance facility will open in early 2018, and create up to 150 high-tech jobs, underlining Ryanair’s ongoing commitment to Seville and Spain.

Seville is an ideal location with opportunities to attract, train and employ local skilled manpower to support this exciting project. I am pleased that we have reached an agreement with both AENA and La Rinconada municipality and look forward to further growing tourism, traffic and jobs at our Seville base in the coming months and years.”
