Money Will Aid in Hurricane Sandy Disaster Relief Efforts
ST. LOUIS, 2012-11-03 — /travelprnews.com/ — The American Red Cross is proud to announce a very generous donation from our friends at the Enterprise Holdings Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the company that operates the Enterprise Rent-A-Car, National Car Rental and Alamo Rent A Car brands. The foundation’s gift of $1 million will aid Hurricane Sandy disaster relief efforts in New Jersey and New York.
“Giving back to our communities is important to us, never more than at a time like this,” said Jo Ann Taylor Kindle, president of the Enterprise Holdings Foundation. “Our hearts go out to all the victims of this storm, particularly to the families of those who lost their lives.”
“Hurricane Sandy’s path of destruction stretches hundreds of miles and has impacted millions of people, and this will be one of the biggest Red Cross relief operations in the past five years,” said Gail McGovern, president and CEO of the Red Cross. “We are so grateful for the generosity of Enterprise in support of our work.”
Right now, more than 3,300 Red Cross disaster workers are spread out in nine states, working in shelters and mobile kitchens and distributing relief supplies. Last night, about 6,800 people spent the night in nearly 100 Red Cross shelters in nine states.
