XXX of QTA, commented: ”Attending ILTM is important to the QTA as it is one of many initiatives to position and promote Qatar as a top luxury destination that can match any in the world. By showcasing Qatar amongst the world’s best luxury resorts to the top international VIP buyers, QTA is exploring one of the best opportunities to promote Qatar as a leading luxury tourist resort. Luxury and leisure go hand in hand and they underpin why Qatar is attracting more tourists every year. The QTA is thus promoting Qatar for its 21stcentury upscale facilities, luxury leisure amenities and award-winning spas to appeal to the global luxury market.”

Luxury travel continued to show a strong recovery during 2011. A key driver of growth was the rising number of wealthy individuals worldwide, especially in China, Brazil and India, which are expected to fuel a positive performance for luxury travel over the next five years. Luxury travellers needs have also been evolving after the recession, with “experiential” travel and sustainability now playing a more important role.

“The QTA recently announced its interest in promoting eco-tourism and responsible tourism at the recent COP 18 UN Climate Change Conference in Doha, leveraging sustainability as a key pillar in the country’s new developments.”

With a wide choice of luxury hotels and resorts, Qatar offers the perfect retreat for business travelers wanting to mix business with leisure, and experience luxurious hospitality to international standards in a country with a unique cultural heritage. The QTA is thus promoting Qatar as a winning combination of the finest in modern day luxury side by side with the country’s age old traditions to appeal to the seasoned luxury traveller.

As UNWTO forecasts the Middle East region is expected to capture 8% of the 1.8 billion international tourists worldwide, the QTA plans to attract the largest number of these visitors to Qatar, as it promotes the country as a luxury destination ready to welcome the world’s most discerning travelers.
