Qantas Announces Major Enhancements to Loyalty Program, Expanding Rewards and Benefits for Frequent Flyers

(IN SHORT) Qantas has introduced several enhancements to its Frequent Flyer program, providing members with more opportunities to earn points and access premium rewards. The airline will increase the number of Classic Reward seats, including those in premium cabins, and introduce the lowest Economy reward seat fares in Australia. These changes follow the success of the Classic Plus initiative and include increased points earnings on domestic flights. Qantas also plans to allow members to use points to upgrade to Business class on Jetstar flights. Additionally, starting in August 2025, the airline will raise the number of points required for Classic Reward seats for the first time in six years, marking an adjustment to sustain the program’s future.

(PRESS RELEASE) Sydney, Australia, 2025-Jan-25 — /Travel PR News/ — Qantas has unveiled a series of significant changes to its Frequent Flyer program, aimed at offering more value and rewarding members with additional opportunities for earning points and accessing premium rewards. Among the key updates is the expansion of Classic Reward seat availability, with up to 1 million additional seats, including in premium cabins, and a new record of seats available through global airline partners. In addition, the airline will introduce Australia’s lowest Economy reward seat fares, starting at 5,700 points for select Jetstar short-haul domestic flights.

These changes come as Qantas continues its efforts to enhance the overall value of its loyalty program, marking an important milestone after the success of the Classic Plus initiative, which significantly increased reward seat availability in 2024. The airline has also set ambitious goals for 2025, which will see a boost in points earned on domestic flights, as well as the removal of the cap on bonus points for tiered members flying in premium cabins.

Qantas Frequent Flyer members will soon benefit from these enhancements, including access to more international reward seats with partners like Finnair, Air France, KLM, Iberia, and Hawaiian Airlines. The airline is also working to make upgrades more accessible, with future opportunities to use Qantas Points to upgrade to Business class on Jetstar flights, a move that coincides with the airline’s refurbishment of its Boeing 787 Dreamliner fleet.

Despite the positive changes, Qantas will introduce its first increase in Classic Reward seat fares in six years starting in August 2025, marking an adjustment that is expected to help sustain the long-term success of the program. These increases will apply across both domestic and international flights and with partner airlines, but members have the option to lock in current fare levels for bookings made before the change takes effect.

Markus Svensson, CEO of Qantas Domestic, said, “These updates reflect our commitment to continuously improve the rewards we offer our loyal members. We are focused on creating a program that truly benefits our customers by providing more flexibility and rewards that are tailored to their travel needs.”
