2013-03-04 — /travelprnews.com/ — Luxury Jersey Hotels, the Jersey Evening Post and Jersey Post are all getting behind the Picture Jersey campaign which will give amateur photographers the chance to share their favourite island view as a postcard. The initiative has been developed by Luxury Jersey Hotels and launches next month with a photography competition in the Jersey Evening Post. The photographers behind the six winning images will each receive a hotel stay in one of the Luxury Jersey Hotels locations and have their photograph turned into a Jersey Post-sponsored postcard.
The free Picture Jersey postcards featuring photographs taken by islanders will be available this summer to guests staying at any of the Luxury Jersey Hotels locations, which include L’Horizon Hotel, The Club Hotel, The Royal Yacht, The Atlantic Hotel, Grand Jersey and Hotel de France. Patrick Burke, chairman of Luxury Jersey Hotels and owner of The Atlantic Hotel explains: ‘Jersey’s a truly photogenic location. We hope our campaign will give budding photographers an opportunity to focus on Jersey’s beautiful coastline, castles and countryside, as well as exposing some of the island’s hidden gems.’
The Jersey Evening Post photography competition will be aimed at finding high quality, compelling shots that paint a picture of the island’s character and local flavour. A panel of judges from Jersey Post, Luxury Jersey Hotels and the Jersey Evening Post will decide on the most engaging images, with one of the winning photographs being voted for by Jersey Evening Post readers. Jersey Evening Post’s Picture Editor Peter Mourant adds: ‘It makes sense to show people our island rather than just talking about it. We all have a part of the island that’s special to us, and this competition will encourage people to get out there and capture their favourite view of Jersey, or explore their photo archive to find an image that sums up what Jersey means to them.’
Turning the winning photographs into a limited edition of free postcards has been made possible by sponsorship from Jersey Post. Kevin Keen, Chief Executive of Jersey Post, explains: ‘As an island organisation, we feel strongly that we should be supporting other local industry sectors like tourism. Last year’s ‘Love Jersey’ postcard initiative in conjunction with Jersey Tourism was a huge success and we’re delighted to lend our support to this campaign which will give local photographers the chance to translate their favourite image into a postcard to be seen, shared and saved as a souvenir by visitors to the island.’
The Picture Jersey postcards will be made available for free to visitors staying at any of the Luxury Jersey Hotels this summer. The Jersey Evening Post’s Picture Jersey competition in conjunction with Luxury Jersey Hotels and Jersey Post will run from the 6th March. Full details of how to enter along with a link to the terms and conditions will be published in the Jersey Evening Post.
