Passenger traffic is projected at 90% of 2019 pre-pandemic levels
Oakland, Calif., 2021-Dec-23 — /Travel PR News/ — Airport officials anticipate nearly 370,000 passengers will use the airport between December 23rd and January 2nd. Based upon current trends and the number of scheduled seats, OAK expects to reach 90% of 2019 passenger levels for the same period. It expects nearly three times as many passengers as seen during the same period in 2020. The busiest days during the eleven-day holiday travel period are expected to be Thursday, December 23rd, Sunday, December 26th and Sunday, January 2.
On-airport parking is available for passengers in OAK’s Premier, Hourly, Daily and Economy lots. Those picking up arriving passengers are encouraged to use the Hourly Parking lot located in front of the terminal allowing them to easily go inside to greet arriving passengers in the lobby and thereby avoid congestion at the curb and in the waiting lot.
OAK recommends that travelers check the latest COVID-19 travel restrictions and travel health requirements that may affect their trip, especially those who are traveling internationally for the holidays. Resources for international travel requirements and restrictions can be found here. COVID-19 testing is available at OAK through a partnership with City Health Urgent Care. Testing appointments should be made here.
“Oakland International Airport welcomes and thanks all choosing to Fly the East Bay Way during this festive season,” says Bryant L. Francis, Director of Aviation at the Port of Oakland. “We wish everyone a safe, happy and healthy holiday season and look forward to a wonderful new year.”
