(PRESS RELEASE) Bangkok, Thailand, 2024-Nov-1 — /Travel PR News/ — Minor Hotels, a leading global hospitality group, has appointed seasoned industry professional Omar Romero as Chief Development and Luxury Officer, a new role created to accelerate the company’s ambitious expansion plans. Romero will lead Minor Hotels’ global development strategy, identifying new opportunities and managing key partnerships, while also curating luxury brand experiences across the group’s expanding portfolio. Reporting to CEO Dillip Rajakarier and based in Bangkok, Romero will work closely with senior leadership to advance Minor’s growth objectives.
Romero, previously Chief Development Officer at Six Senses, brings over 20 years of experience in hospitality development, including more than 50 hotel and branded residence signings worldwide. His expertise aligns with Minor Hotels’ goal to expand by 200 properties by 2026, increasing its room inventory by over 30,000. Minor Hotels is strengthening its presence in Asia and the Middle East while reducing its concentration in Europe, and plans to launch new brands in luxury, premium, and select segments to meet market demand.
Rajakarier praised Romero’s track record in luxury development, emphasizing his alignment with Minor Hotels’ mission to create iconic, experiential destinations. Romero shared his excitement for the role, particularly in expanding branded residential offerings. This latest appointment is part of a broader wave of senior hires, with Puneet Dhawan joining as Head of Asia and Gonzalo Aguilar slated to take on the role of CEO for Europe & Americas in 2025.
