Liverpool John Lennon Airport employees donate food, groceries, and basic toiletries to Liverpool foodbank

LIVERPOOL, UK, 2014-12-15 — /Travel PR News/ — A Liverpool foodbank has been delighted to accept hundreds of items of much needed food, groceries, and basic toiletries, all kindly donated by Airport employees. The Airport recently started working in partnership with Business in the Community (BITC) to collect food items that will help the foodbank run by St Leonard’s Youth and Community Centre in Bootle, over Christmas.

The centre highlighted a ‘shopping list’ of items that hundreds of families who will attend the foodbank in the run up to Christmas, need most. All departments across the Airport were then asked to go through the ‘shopping list’, with colleagues subsequently purchasing and donating the necessary items.

It is especially hard for parents and carers to feed children during Christmas holidays as children are not receiving meals at school and adults are often forced to choose between heating their homes and feeding their children. Thanks to the generosity of colleagues who very kindly donated hundreds of items, all the necessary groceries and toiletries were collected and delivered to the Centreby colleagues, so that hundreds of families and children in particular, across Liverpool now won’t have to go hungry this Christmas.
