Liverpool John Lennon Airport announces £4 million investment in refurbishment and upgrade of Departure Lounge’s upper floor

LIVERPOOL, ENGLAND, 2016-Nov-30 — /Travel PR News/ — The latest phase of development work aimed at further improving the customer experience for departing passengers, is now underway at Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LJLA).

Approximately £4 million is being invested in a refurbishment and upgrade of approximately 2,000 sq m of the upper floor of the Departure Lounge, bringing this in line with those areas of the terminal that have undergone similar improvements over the past 18 months.

Utilising the services of a number of local building and shop fit companies, these latest improvement works are expected to be completed in June 2017, ahead of the peak Summer season and are taking place in the first area that passengers enter having completed the security screening process.

This latest investment at the Airport includes a reconfigured retail area for both new and existing retail partners, completely new washroom facilities, large flight information screens and new seating helping to create a lighter and brighter passenger environment.

Earlier this year the Airport completed the first phase of terminal improvements having invested £2.5 million in a number of new and improved facilities all aimed at enhancing the customer experience. Surveys conducted throughout the year to gauge passengers’ views on a range of issues show that passengers have subsequently been quick to give the ‘thumbs-up’ to these improvements.

The latest passenger survey results which benchmark Liverpool’s performance against industry best practice and with that of 18 other comparable airports, shows that LJLA is now one of the best in terms of overall customer satisfaction, highlighting the success of the improvements made in infrastructure and customer service over the past 18 months.

David Taylor, LJLA’s Interim Commercial Manager commented, “We are looking to create a real ‘wow factor’ for passengers as we welcome them into the Departure Lounge, further enhancing the customer experience and building on the really positive passenger feedback following the completion of the first phase of terminal improvements earlier this year.

We believe these latest improvements and additions to the lounge will continue to grow our reputation as the Faster, Easier, Friendlier Airport of choice for passengers as we look to create the Airport our region loves.”
