Cairo at The First Residence, Egypt – 2012-09-24 — /travelprnews.com/ — Four Seasons Hotel Cairo at The First Residence is taking Cairo’s art scene by storm. As one of the region’s pioneering properties supporting local and regional art, the Hotel is currently showcasing one of the city’s most impressive contemporary art exhibitions, providing artists with a platform to showcase and sell their work. The exhibition is not a typical static collection, but one that rotates every three months giving opportunity for new and established artists to display their work.
Featuring many of Egypt’s A-list contemporary artists such as Essam Marouf and Brit Boutros Ghali, and upcoming and talent such as Galila Nawar, Mohamed Ardash, Essam Darwish and Ayman Lotfi to name a few, the art exhibition aims to not only enrich the lives of guests but also the burgeoning Cairo art scene by transforming the Hotel into a “live gallery” and a hub for social and cultural exchange.
To this effect, the Hotel recently hosted an elegant art cocktail reception in celebration of its current collection, attended by Cairo’s elite social circles, art connoisseurs and diplomatic community. The event, which was very well received, provided a platform for the artists to showcase their work.
From the moment one steps into the Hotel, throughout the public spaces, the eye-catching artwork ranges from paintings and sculptures to photography and glass work. The current collection has been put together in close cooperation with Syra Arts. Based in both Washington DC and Cairo, Syra Arts is a cultural operator dedicated to promoting contemporary Egyptian art internationally. The depth and diversity of contemporary art from Egypt has already caused quite a stir in several exhibitions organized by Syra Arts in the USA.
“We are extremely excited about the Hotel’s art exhibition,” says Randy Shimabuku, general manager of the 269-room Four SeasonsHotel Cairo at The First Residence. “Both international and local guests are surrounded by top quality artwork that features some of Egypt’s finest and emerging young artists. The artists gain a platform to exhibit their work to new and discerning clientele, and at the same time the Hotel’s aesthetic is enhanced through a range of valuable works of art. This one-of-a kind rotating art exhibition will help position us as one of the leading art hotels in the local and regional art scene.”
Echoing the global trend, Four Seasons Hotel Cairo at The First Residence is using this exhibition as an opportunity to pay homage to Egyptian culture by taking on an important role in promoting the country’s distinguished and emerging artists, not only to the local, but among regional and international art scenes as well.
The Hotel’s next collection is due in mid-October.
