Jersey Opera House Chef Peter O’Neill won award for Most Outstanding Professional Chef at Highlands College

Jersey, 2013-10-15 — /travelprnews.com/ — Jersey Opera House Chef Peter O’Neill has won the award for Most Outstanding Professional Chef at Highlands College.

The OH! Cafébar Head Chef, who has been studying on the Highlands’ Day Release programme for the International Diploma in Food Preparation & Cooking, will receive the Randalls Vautier Limited award at a prize-giving ceremony on Thursday 14th November at the college.

Supported by Jersey Opera House, Chef Peter has successfully completed this qualification in one year, after previously receiving a distinction for the Certificate Level which he finished in two years.

Peter joined the Jersey Opera House team as Head Chef in 2011 when the rebranded OH! Cafébar opened its doors. With more than 17 years’ experience under his whites, his signature dishes include homemade smoked duck and Jersey Black Butter crème brulée.

Originally from Belfast, Peter’s love for food first ignited when he was knee-high to the oven, baking cakes with his mum. Now a qualified chef, he has worked all across Ireland as well as in the Isle of Man and Liverpool.

Jersey Opera House Theatre Director Jasmine Hendry commented: “Peter thoroughly deserves this accolade.  Every day he delivers fantastic dishes for OH! Cafébar customers and we are incredibly proud that his expertise has been recognised.  The Catering Team is a real asset to the theatre and we will continue to invest in the staff’s professional development.”
