(PRESS RELEASE) Tokyo, Japan, 2024-Sep-30 — /Travel PR News/ — Japan Airlines (JAL) is set to significantly enhance its inflight Wi-Fi offerings, starting from October 1, 2024, on both international and domestic flights. The upgrades will include free Wi-Fi for all passengers on international routes and expanded services, including video streaming, on domestic flights.
International Flights: Previously available only to First Class passengers for free, Wi-Fi will now be extended to all classes on international flights. First Class and Business Class passengers will enjoy unlimited free Wi-Fi access, while Premium Economy and Economy Class travelers will have one hour of complimentary use, with the option to purchase additional time. The service will support video streaming, though voice and video calls will remain unavailable.
Domestic Flights: On domestic routes, JAL will build on its existing free Wi-Fi service by introducing video streaming capabilities, allowing passengers to enjoy content directly through the Wi-Fi service without the need for downloads. This upgrade applies to all JAL and JTA-operated flights, with a phased rollout for certain aircraft.
Additionally, JAL passengers will gain access to TBS NEWS DIG, a news site featuring content from 28 JNN stations, further enhancing the onboard entertainment options.
Looking ahead, JAL plans to introduce Boeing 737-8 aircraft by fiscal 2026, featuring state-of-the-art Wi-Fi systems with reduced latency and greater capacity for smoother connectivity.
JAL remains committed to improving the inflight experience by continuously expanding and refining its Wi-Fi services.
For more information on these updates, passengers can visit JAL’s official website after October 1, 2024.
