ITA Airways moves to Lufthansa Group digital platform with new app and website for a more connected customer journey

(IN SHORT) ITA Airways has launched a newly rebuilt website and mobile app based on Lufthansa Group’s digital platform, marking another step in its integration with the wider airline group while preserving ITA’s own brand identity. The upgrade allows passengers to combine ITA Airways flights with those of other Lufthansa Group hub carriers in one booking and introduces a more unified digital experience across the travel journey. The platforms are designed to support customers from booking through post-flight services, and further features such as Travel ID and Miles & More access, direct login, push notifications, and a standardized check-in process are planned. Developed over the past twelve months by the Lufthansa Group Digital Hangar, the new digital offering is aimed at delivering a more modern, seamless, and customer-friendly experience for ITA Airways travelers.

(PRESS RELEASE) COLOGNE, Germany, 2026-Apr-8 — /Travel PR News/ —Lufthansa Group and ITA Airways have rolled out a rebuilt digital experience for ITA passengers, introducing a new website and mobile app built on the same platform already used by Lufthansa, SWISS, Austrian Airlines, and Brussels Airlines. The move brings ITA Airways further into the Lufthansa Group’s digital ecosystem while keeping the Italian carrier’s own branding, visual identity, and content. As part of the update, travelers can now combine ITA Airways flights with services from other Lufthansa Group hub airlines within a single booking flow, making trip planning across the wider network more flexible and convenient.

The new digital channels are designed to support customers throughout the full travel cycle, from the initial search and booking process to payment, ancillary services, travel updates, and post-flight assistance. Existing ITA Airways bookings can already be transferred into the new system, and more features are due to be added in stages. Upcoming enhancements include direct access to Travel ID and Miles & More accounts, direct login functionality, automated email and push notifications, and a check-in process aligned with other Lufthansa Group airlines. The new online platforms are now available in nine languages.

The development work was carried out over the past year by the Lufthansa Group Digital Hangar, the unit responsible for building and refining the Group’s digital customer products. The objective was to create a more consistent and modern digital journey across all passenger touchpoints, with easier navigation, integrated services, and more personalized travel information. By moving onto the Lufthansa Group platform, ITA Airways also gains access to technology already proven across the Group and associated with an app platform that received international recognition as the Best Airline App in 2024.

Lufthansa Group says the new setup is intended to deliver stronger practical benefits for customers while supporting closer integration between the airlines. Dieter Vranckx, Chief Commercial Officer of Lufthansa Group, said the shared platform gives ITA Airways passengers a more intuitive and reliable digital travel companion, while also strengthening one of the airline’s most important customer interfaces. With more than 200,000 daily users already engaging through ITA Airways’ digital channels, the revamped app and website are positioned as a central part of the carrier’s evolving customer experience strategy.
