Hilton London Canary Wharf Raises £16,102 For Children’s Charities

LONDON, 2013-01-16 — /travelprnews.com/ — Throughout 2012 Hilton London Canary Wharf organised various activities to raise money for children’s charities, resulting in a total of £16,102, which will go to an array of children’s organisations. Local East London charity, Richard House Children’s Hospice* was presented with a donation for £8,051, with remaining gifts granted to charities that support young children, and are partners of Hilton in the Community
Foundation.

Both colleagues and guests helped to raise money by taking part in a multitude of events including a sponsored run, a Midsummer masked ball, bingo and raffles. Hotels guests were also given the option to contribute £1 to their bill on checkout as part of the Small Change, Big Difference initiative. *Richard House Children’s Hospice is London’s oldest children’s hospice, providing respite care for terminally ill children and their families, with onsite nurses, bedrooms and play areas.

Adam Smith, director of operations, said, “As a hotel we are thrilled to be able to raise £16,102 for a whole host of deserving children’s charities. It has been wonderful to see colleagues come together with guests to help make a difference to those in need.”

Hilton in the Community Foundation was founded in 2000 as Hilton Worldwide’s charity vehicle in Europe dedicated to supporting young people in need by combating exclusion and providing skills, aspirations and opportunities. Focused on improving access to, and the quality of, education and health care, the Foundation mobilises local giving and targets four key areas: disabled children, children in hospitals, children’s hospices and homelessness. Grants help vulnerable and disadvantaged young people in Europe.

The Foundation’s core costs are funded by Hilton Worldwide, so every net pound/euro raised goes directly to good causes. Donations are funded almost entirely through the generous efforts and contributions of team members, family and friends and with the support of guests and company suppliers. Since it was established in November 2000 the Foundation has raised over €13 million for charity.

Hilton London Canary Wharf offers stylish accommodation in the heart of Canary Wharf, with quick links to East London’s famous attractions including the Olympic Park, Cutty Sark, Greenwich Royal Observatory and The Emirates Air Line cable car. In 2012, TripAdvisor gave the hotel a Certificate of Excellence Award for providing guests with a consistently exceptional experience.
