Yesterday, the Northants Sings Out choir, finalists from this year’s Britain’s Got Talent, took to Terminal 5 to deliver a heartwarming musical surprise for travelers, welcoming them home with cheerful renditions of classic carols.
Throughout December, the choir will fill Heathrow’s terminals with the joyous sounds of the season, singing traditional Christmas favorites and multilingual holiday messages in the languages of Heathrow’s top travel destinations, such as Arabic, Mandarin, Spanish, French, Turkish, and Gaelic. Passengers will also be able to request personalized performances and custom greetings for their loved ones arriving at the airport, adding a special touch to their holiday reunions.
As Heathrow prepares for its busiest holiday season yet, with over 7 million passengers expected to pass through its doors this December, the choir’s performances are part of the airport’s efforts to elevate the holiday experience for travelers. The airport also plans to utilize the services of its 500-strong “Here to Help” team and 70 volunteers, who will assist passengers throughout the season, ensuring smooth and festive journeys.
With Christmas Day projections showing a 21% increase in passenger numbers over last year, Heathrow expects to see approximately 170,000 passengers on December 25, with many heading to popular holiday destinations like New York, Madrid, Dublin, Dubai, and Delhi. For those seeking winter magic, the airport also offers flights to locations like Tromsø to witness the Northern Lights and Kittilä for a chance to meet Father Christmas.
