Global STR Data Confirms Hilton Worldwide as the Largest Hotel Company in Turkey

ISTANBUL, 2013-06-03 — /travelprnews.com/ — Marking the start of the Turkey and Neighbours Hotel Investment Conference 2013, Hilton Worldwide today announced the addition of three new hotels to its Turkish pipeline, demonstrating the accelerating growth of the company’s portfolio in Turkey and making it the first operator in the country that will surpass 10,000 rooms operating and under development.

The latest hotels to join the development pipeline are in Antakya, Istanbul Zeytinburnu and Corlu; complementing the company’s most recent openings include DoubleTree by Hilton Istanbul Avcilar and DoubleTree by Hilton Kusadasi.

Hilton Antakya will be located in an unrivalled position next to the Church of St Peter as part of a new site housing an archeological museum.  A wealth of architectural and religious heritage makes Antakya one of Turkey’s greatest cultural destinations.  The new upscale Hilton Hotels & Resorts property is expected to open in early 2014, following the signing of a franchise agreement with ASF Otelcilik ve Turizm Isl. Tic. Ltd. Sti.  With incredible vistas, Hilton Antakya will offer 200 guestrooms, three restaurant and bar options, a luxurious spa with indoor and outdoor swimming pools, as well as approximately 1,250 square metres of events space.

In the mid-market segment, Hilton Garden Inn Corlu is expected to open in early 2015, following the signing of a franchise agreement with Santeks Iplik ve Brode A.S.  Occupying a prime location on the E-5 highway, which connects Corlu to Istanbul, the new build hotel will offer business and leisure guests award winning Hilton Garden Inn accommodation in close proximity to the city centre, as well as to several industrial and commercial zones.  Hilton Garden Inn Corlu will feature 129 guestrooms, a restaurant and bar, the brand’s Pavilion Pantry Market, as well as approximately 600 square metres of events space.  Guests will also benefit from complimentary internet access and 24-hour gym.

Lastly, demonstrating the increasing popularity of value brand, Hampton by Hilton, the latest addition confirmed is Hampton by Hilton Istanbul Zeytinburnu, which is expected to open in early 2016.  The hotel becomes the seventh Hampton by Hilton under development in Turkey and will occupy a prime location within close proximity to the old town, offering easy access to Ataturk Airport.  The hotel will be managed by Hilton Worldwide on behalf of Behcetogullari Otomotiv Ticaret Ltd. Sti, and will include 164 guestrooms, a work zone and snack bar, as well as free internet access and hot breakfast included in the room rate.

Hilton Worldwide currently operates 24 hotels (nearly 6,000 guestrooms) in Turkey, across five brands.  The company’s development pipeline in Turkey stands at 21* hotels (more than 4,000 guestrooms), with expectations to open six further hotels by the end of 2013, including Hilton Istanbul Bomonti Hotel & Conference Center, DoubleTree by Hilton Malatya, Hilton Garden Inn Diyarbakir, Hampton by Hilton Kayasehir, Hampton by Hilton Samsun and Hampton by Hilton Gazientep.
