George Best Belfast City Airport welcomes Aer Lingus’ new service to Newquay

Belfast, Northern Ireland, 2021-Apr-22 — /Travel PR News/ — Aer Lingus Regional has announced a new service from George Best Belfast City Airport to the popular UK holiday destination, Newquay.

Operated by Stobart Air, the three-times weekly flights to Cornwall Airport Newquay will commence from 28th June 2021 and conveniently connect passengers with Cornwall and the South of England.

Ellie McGimpsey, Aviation Development Manager at Belfast City Airport, said:

“As a staycation favourite, Newquay has always been a popular destination served from Belfast City Airport and we are delighted that Aer Lingus Regional is going to re-establish this service since it was left vacant by Flybe.

“The quick flight times and direct connectivity makes it the ideal choice for a getaway closer to home and we are confident the route will be popular with holidaymakers, families, and anyone who wants to retreat to the beach this summer.”

The summer service will operate on an ATR72-600 aircraft with five now based at Belfast City Airport permanently.

Commenting on the announcement, Andy Jolly, Managing Director at Stobart Air, said:

“Anticipating a successful Covid-19 vaccination rollout which will allow air travel to resume safely later this year, we are pleased to add Newquay to our portfolio of flights from Belfast City Airport to top destinations across the U.K.

“This addition further strengthens our commitment to Northern Ireland and provides passengers with frequent, convenient, and affordable services.

“We look forward to welcoming our staff and customers aboard this summer.”

Passengers choosing to fly from Belfast City Airport with Aer Lingus Regional can also avail of the loyalty programme, AerClub, where Avios reward points can be collected and redeemed against future Aer Lingus flights, purchases or products.

This service to Newquay takes the number of routes served by Belfast City Airport to 26 across the UK and Europe. The airport, the first in Northern Ireland to be awarded ACI’s Airport Health Accreditation for best-in-class Covid-19 health and safety processes, now boasts a robust route network offering choice and convenience to the people of Northern Ireland.
