Frankfurt Airport inaugurated new ecumenical Christian chapel in Transit Area B of Terminal 1

Place of worship for Christians now also available in Transit of FRA’s Terminal

FRANKFURT, 2015-2-6 — /Travel PR News/ — On January 27, 2015, a new ecumenical Christian chapel was inaugurated in Transit Area B of Frankfurt Airport’s Terminal 1. The new place of worship for Christians of all denominations will be accessible around the clock to passengers as well as airline and airport employees. The chapel also features a separate room for visitors who wish to contact a member of the airport chaplaincy individually.

In addition to the already existing chapels – located in the pre-security area of Terminal 1 and the transit zone of Terminal 2 – Frankfurt Airport (FRA) now also provides a prayer room for Christians in Terminal 1’s post-security area. Places of worship for Jews and Muslims are also available in FRA’s two passenger terminals. The new interdenominational Christian chapel was built on the initiative of Fraport AG, the owner and operator of Frankfurt Airport, to offer passengers additional space for retreat in the remodeled transit area of Terminal 1. In total, there are now 10 prayer rooms or chapels for members of different faiths, located both in the pre- and post-security areas of the two terminals. Fraport and the Christian Social Services have been closely cooperating for many years at Frankfurt Airport in providing assistance to passengers and employees and taking care of refugees.  At an international aviation hub like FRA, prayer rooms for different faiths provide space for religious diversity, thus contributing to dialog and peaceful coexistence among the world’s religions.
